Summary:
Dr. Athanasiou graduated the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 1995, and he obtained his Ph.D. in 2003 from the same department and a Master degree in Business Administration from the Macedonia University (Thessaloniki) in 2011. Since 2003, he has appointed academic and research positions as a visiting Lecturer (or Assistant Professor) and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH – Xanthi, Greece), the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM – Kozani, Greece), the Technological and Educational Institute of Western Macedonia (TEIWM – Kozani, Greece) and the Chemical Process Research Engineering Institute (CPERI – Thessaloniki, Greece). Since 2010 he is a Lecturer of the Dept of Environmental Engineering, DUTH and also an associated researcher of CPERI. He is the co-author of 34 papers in international scientific journals, 18 in international conference proceedings and 4 book chapters, in the fields of solid state electrochemistry and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, heterogeneous catalysis and biomass-to-energy engineering. Since 2010, he runs the Laboratory of Non-Conventional Energy Sources of the Dept of Environmental Engineering. Since 2011 he is the father of one daughter.
